The start of a soul journal journey
Fate sometimes intervenes when we need it most. I have been thinking more and more about art journaling, but had much trepidation about starting. Serendipitously, through an altered paper swap delightful, talented artists, I was introduced to the Soul Journaling group on yahoo. You'll see some samples of their papers in earlier posts. I have finished my first prompt, which was to create a weaving of some of our hopes and dreams for the coming year. I wove mine with strips of vellum for the vertical elements, some paper I painted and some resist stained with Nancy Curry's technique for the horizontals. The thought process really helped me solidify some of the ways I can be most positive and useful. In my case, I placed the weaving on the top of a mailing envelope so I can store little bits I might use in my journaling.

A special thanks to Trish Bee and all the Art Venture members. Thanks so much for encouraging, prodding, and pushing those of us who have a little trouble leaving the comfort of our usual zones into new and ever more exciting artistic endeavors.

This was brilliant to use vellum. That way you can read your whole "dream" wish. What a smarty pants! jeanne in oregon
I like the use of vellum too. I just did something similar with the weaving. I am from Oregon. I do like it here. I'm about 1.5 hrs from the coast. I moved to Illinois for about three years and missed Oregon terribly. It is pretty here.
Beautiful use of vellum, and the quotes are lovely, as is the background.
i too love the use of vellum, another great technique. one of my goals is to find a mentor too. i would love to mentor through BigBro/BigSis.
